First of all, Happy New Year! May the New Year bring you good health and prosperity.
I am writing to you to introduce the work programme that SIDO has planned for 2020. The three key topics will be: Orthodontic and Multidisciplinary Training, New Technologies and Young Orthodontists. This is where my project starts!
SIDO and AIDOr are the most prestigious scientific societies in the Italian orthodontic scene and this year for the very first time we have decided to draw up a joint Scientific Programme.
This project aims at breaking down barriers, creating meeting points and joining forces in order to offer our members the opportunity to update their skills without wasting time and money.
This year’s Scientific Programme starts with a meeting (the 1st SIDO-AIDOR Congress) on interdisciplinary approaches that will be held in Verona on 15 and 16 May.
We have decided to give more time to speakers who work in TEAMS. They will discuss together the same topics presenting, at times, opposite approaches.
There will also be individual speakers who will deal with specific topics, like soloists in an orchestra whose players are all tuned to the main features of our profession.
Another very important event is our Congress that will be held in Florence, from 12 to 14 November 2020. A “Digital Plaza” will host digital technologies where orthodontists will be able to see, touch and assess the most relevant digital innovations inside a “lab” equipped with the most advanced devices and with the help of tutors.
We have also organised a continuing professional development programme that will involve the members of the Italian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and of scientific societies of related disciplines.
I am confident that both events will be very successful and will be attended by both Italian and foreign participants.
Both Congresses will be characterised by a Programme for Young Orthodontists, specifically devoted to scientific initiatives that are tailor-made for young members. There will also be recreational activities to promote interpersonal contacts.
We are also working to obtain a credit line on favourable terms for all members, in particular for young members wishing to start their own practices.
And last but not least, this year SIDO will organise some Study Clubs aimed at presenting and discussing orthodontic as well as multidisciplinary clinical cases. We hope that some of the Study Clubs will be organised together with SIdP.
We have plenty of projects in our pipeline and will keep you posted via our Sidonews.
I wish a Happy New Year to you all!
